Faculty Development Program on ‘Algodynamics’ approach to Teaching Algorithms

(Please Note: Event Postponed from Oct 5, 2019 to Nov 9, 2019)

IEEE Hyderabad Section’s Education Activities Committee and Virtual Labs, IIIT Hyderabad, jointly announce
a Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “Algodynamics”- An approach to teaching algorithms in Computer Science. “Algodynamics” applies system dynamics approach to describe and teach algorithms and aims to address the challenges in traditional methods of teaching Algorithms. The approach holds promise, specifically with the availability of interactive Virtual Labs in Data Structures and Algorithms.

Topics Covered

Discussion on existing approaches to teach algorithms, Tracing of algorithms, Algodynamics – Introduction – Motivation, Simple examples Method of using Algodynamics and implementation in teaching, Tracing using Algodynamics approach, Comparing 2 approaches, key takeaways.

Faculty

  1. Dr Venkatesh Choppella, Associate Professor, IIIT Hyderabad,
  2. Dr Viswanath Kasturi, Professor, SERC, IIIT Hyderabad,
  3. Mr Mrityunjay Kumar, PhD Student, SERC.
